Installation Instruction

Step by step instruction for installation.

-- Safety --

  1. Pay attention to safety, set ladder firmly, turn off power to lamp before start working on. Wear eye protection and gloves if necessary.
  2. Open lamp cover, most lamps has two latches along one edge, use a flat head screw driver to lift or shift the latch to open. The cover should hang open along the other edge but it may also fall down. Be careful with it.

-- Clean --

  1. Guts out existing tubes and ballast. Most lamps have a cover for its ballast, you can see it once the cover is open; lose the cover by squeeze both sides at same time. Find power lines (usually black and white lines) and separate them from ballast. Find ground wire, usually copper wire attaching to light box.

Cut rest of wires and remove (unscrew) the ballast, clean rest of wires by cutting them off as much as possible, you won't need them anymore.

-- Install --

  1. Decide if you need diffuser films, suggest diffuser for all kind of lamp with clear cover or no cover (see above pictures). Apply diffuser film while on ground before you install them up there. Follow the photo sequence. Slide one side with two tabs through the narrow opening under light modules' PCB. Bend the film in hand and insert the other two tabs in between PCB and tabs from the other edge. Fully let tabs go through the opening. If necessary, apply one drop of crazy glue at the tabs on top.
  2. find surface for install module and power supply (according to diagram) clean installation surface and let dry.
  3. For even and clean surface, use double sided tape for installation. Our double sided tapes are 300% stronger than the ones you can find from office depot and can withhold 212F temperature. Just peer off the cover and press object firmly against surface. (a minimum application pressure should be 15 pounds in order to achieve maximum bond strength. The dwell time the tape needs to be in contact with both surfaces, before it reaches it maximum adhesion, is 1 hours. )
NOT turn on the light (heat up) before the dwell time (1 hour) is met. For instance installation, use screws as next step.
  4. For uneven or lose surfaces, use included screws for installation, still use double sided tape for positioning. Use 7/64" drill bit to drill two pilot holes for each object and apply screws.(Wear eye protection) The 3/8" screws are for power supply and ¼" screws are for light modules.

-- Wiring --

  1. Attach light module yellow wire with red DC power line from power supply, attach light module white wire (the end one; not the middle ones) with black DC power line from power supply.
  2. Attach black power line with Brown AC line to power supply. Attach white power line with Green AC line to power supply.
  3. Arrange wires neatly, tape them to light box. Do Not re-apply ballast cover; unless modified with space for wire passage.

-- How to install diffuser film --

  • Decide if you need diffuser films, suggest diffuser for all kind of lamp with clear cover or no cover.
  • Our diffuser is thin PET film, special cut to integrate with our Easy LED module without glue or any other help. Apply diffuser film when you are still on ground before you climb up ladder. Follow the photo sequence.

First, align film with module, align the side with a small nick to wire connect base, align two tabs to thin slots under module's PCB, Slide film so both tabs get through the narrow slots under light modules' PCB. Bend the film around LED in hand and insert the other two tabs in between PCB and tabs from the other edge. Let tabs fully go through the opening all the way, that should be tight enough already. If necessary, apply one drop of crazy glue at the tabs on top.
